Owl Update

I spoke with the wildlife rescue society today. Our friend the gray owl had suffered a severe compound fracture of his right wing. This means it was broken in more than one place. The injury was up near the shoulder. The fracture had begun to heal and set in place 90 degrees to its natural position. This means he was likely in the woods, injured, for one to two weeks. He was very malnourished. Unfortunately, there was nothing the center could do for his recovery so he was euthanized a day later.

Thanks to the good people at Wildlife Rehabilitation Society of Edmonton for taking care of the injured critters. Check out their very cool pics at http://www.wildlife-edm.ca/. They've rehabilitated some pretty neat creations.
